Tuesday’s Stylish Thoughts: Blake Lively…The Girl Who Was Vogued

Dear Pennies and Pens,

For this week’s, Tuesday’s Thoughts I wanted to feature Style Icon, Blake Lively. A few months ago, I was doing my usual blog browsing when I came across an article onĀ Fashionologie that quoted Anna Wintour saying the following about Blake Lively: “I told Tonne [Goodman,Ā Vogue fashion director] to ‘Vogue her.’ We did her hair, gave her glamorous clothes . . .” When I read this, I was surprised but not dumbfounded. Magazines certainly have a history of endorsing celebrities and making them the face of the magazine.

I don’t fault Vogue or Anna for this, in fact, I applaud them. Vogue can use Lively to promote the magazine and uphold its image while Blake can use the magazine to further her career. It’s a win/win situation for both parties. And I must admit, Blake has truly been on the receiving end. I’m sure the clothes she got from Vogue were nothing short of fabulous!Ā Also, last week Blake was named the new face of the Chanel Mademoiselle handbag line. Check outĀ Fashionista for the article.

Karl Lagerfeld & Blake Lively

For over two years, Blake Lively has been starring in the hit series, Gossip Girl. Prior to this, she was in films such as “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” and “The Secret Lives of Pippa Lee”. I’m a big fan of the Sisterhood movies and so I loved her in those. Her character really stood out. Blake is an amazing actress and she stands to grow even more. I’m excited to see her Chanel campaign in April and I’ll know she bring something new and fresh to the brand.

And there it is. The Fashion and Style of the Pen…de la Pen.
