Dear Pennies,

Some of you may remember my article about Charleston Fashion Week’s Emerging Designer Competition. For those unfamiliar, Charleston Fashion Week hosted a competition for emerging fashion designers. The semi-finalists for the competition have been announced. The semi-finalists come from places like Georgia, South Carolina, New York, and Florida. On the Charleston Fashion Week website the designers’ names and design influences are revealed. Check that out here.

Additionally, top fashion editors like Elle’s Fashion News Director Anne Slowey, and Style.com’s Editor-at-Large and Contributing Editor to Harper’s Bazaar Derek Blasberg will be helping to judge the Emerging Designer Competition. Fashion Week founder Fern Mallis, Gilt Groupe Co-Founder Alexis Maybank, and MadMen’s costume designer Janie Bryant will also be joining in on the fun of judging sixteen talented designers to chose one final winner.

This year’s event will be held March 22-26, 2011 and the five night celebration includes more than 30 runway shows, the Spring Bridal show, the Emerging Designer Competition, and the Rock the Runway Model competition. Check out the Charleston Fashion Week website for details.

And there it is. The Fashion and Style of the Pen…de la Pen.
