Press Pen: Kaelen NYC Show Review

Dear Pennies & Pens,

On Saturday, I attended the Kaelen Presentation held at Drive-In Studios in Chelsea NYC. Kaelen is the namesake label of fashion designer, Kaelen Farncombe who hails from Toronto, Canada. Kaelen was only started in 2010, however, the label has been receiving lots of love amongst critics being that the line was voted one of the “Top 15 Designer Labels to Watch” by Fashionista.com.

The Kaelen line is all about having a “sophisticated, classic, and clean style” as stated on the website. In essence, the clothes embody a classy, chic look. The style is very New York yet the clothes could be worn anywhere. The designs are so stylish and uncomplicated.

For the Spring 2012 season, Kaelen used lots of silk and there were lots of draped dresses. The color scheme was light, nudes, cream, grey, and then there was also orange, peach, and seafoam (green). The main colors were the nude & cream. The other colors were spotted throughout the collection. There were also some printed pieces within the collection.

My favorite pieces were a printed down that was paired with a bias slip dress, an orange top with a sheer shirt & shorts underneath, and a long nude draped dress. All the clothes were very wearable and will make the wearer look effortlessly chic.

And there it is. The Fashion & Style of the Pen…de la Pen.
