Dear Pennies & Pens,

So, tomorrow is Thanksgiving! Are you ready?! I know I am. I’m so hungry I can barely write this post. It doesn’t help that my Auntie has the whole house smelling like a soul food feast (#Skintyfatgirl). Moving right along, I know some of you will be heading out to do some Black Friday shopping soon being that retailers have gotten ridiculously greedy and decided to open for sales on Thursday. That’s exactly why I wanted to drop this post on Thanksgiving eve, to remind you of what Thanksgiving and the Holidays are supposed to be about. The Holidays are about being THANKFUL and GRATEFUL for what you have and spending time with family. Everything else really doesn’t matter.

In essence, earlier today I gathered up some of my favorite possessions and did a mini photo shoot to take pictures of everything. Most of the items you’ll see I’ve had for a really long time, there’s only one item that’s truly “new”. I did this to show you that although shopping is fun and buying something new can be exciting, sometimes you have to dig in the back of your closet to find your greatest treasures. After I dug in my own closet and analyzed my favorite items, I realized that a lot of my favorite shoes are practically worn out and most of my favorite movies were made when I was a kid or at least a few years ago. So why get up at some ungodly hour to go spend money on things I really don’t need? Exactly. I can’t think of a reason either.

Me (Pen)

So what I did was I divided my favorite items into a few categories: shoes, movies, my new favorite handbag, and my door. Then I took photos of everything (please excuse my whack photography and editing skills) to showcase them. During my shoot, I realized that I’m just not a photographer. I’m definitely a stylist because I understand concepts, themes, colors, and presentation but as far as capturing the actual image, I just don’t have the patience. To be a great photographer you have to know what image you want to capture and be willing to do whatever to get “the shot”. I just don’t care that much, lol. Ok so enough of LongPen and onto my favorite things (published in the next few posts)!

And there it is. de la Pen…All Pen Everything.
