Press Pen: The Limited Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Dear Pennies & Pens,

I’m not sure if you know this but I’m originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. As you can imagine, Cincinnati isn’t exactly the fashion capital. In essence, I didn’t always have the most stylish shopping destinations. However, there’s always a silver lining and a diamond in the rough. And that silver lining and diamond in the rough (as far as my personal style) came from The Limited.

Growing up, The Limited was IT. And honestly, it’s still IT as far as I’m concerned. It’s just that I can’t shop there as much because there’s no store in NYC. But trust when I go home to Cincinnati, I make it my business to drop in. In fact, I snagged a fabulous dress for $6 dollars this past Christmas. I repeat the dress was $6. And it’s fabulous. See the photos below.

Moving right along from my personal tidbits, The Limited is celebrating 50 years of leadership in specialty retailing by kicking  off a multi-month campaign to  reinforce its mission to support clients’  personal success. Founded in 1963, The Limited changed the way women shop for apparel and helped fuel the growth of malls across the country by bringing runway-inspired fashions from New York, Europe and beyond to women everywhere.  The Limited remains one of the most iconic brands in specialty retailing today.

The retailer will kick-off its celebration with a special campaign to support Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization that offers professional apparel, a network of support and career development tools to women who are entering or re-entering the work force. The Limited is inviting its clients to share success stories, life lessons and great moments in their lives – whether personal or professional – with others who can learn from their wisdom.

Submissions are being accepted at thelimited.com/50th.  The company will donate $1 to Dress for Success for every submission, up to $50,000. Additionally, The Limited is donating to Dress for Success 30% of the proceeds from a limited edition clutch purse and a commemorative bracelet that will debut this fall.

Additionally, an aggressive digital and social media campaign will ask clients to select a dress design that will be featured in its stores. The company’s associates will cap off the celebration in October with a simultaneous commemorative event across all 259 stores nationwide. Having said that, make sure you check out thelimited.com to learn more.
