Dear Pennies & Pens,
Last week, the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) hosted a contest on Tumblr where bloggers were invited to create moodboards using pieces from CFDA menswear designers. Unfortunately, upon completing my moodboard, I realized I had only used 2 pieces from CFDA menswear designers instead of the 4 the contest called for. On top of that, I’m out of town and won’t be back in NYC for awhile so I wouldn’t have been able to attend the winner’s ceremony had I been chosen.
In essence, I decided not to enter the contest but I wanted to post my moodboard anyway because it’s kinda dope. I taught myself how to create the moodboard in Photoshop and I must admit it was pretty easy and even more fun. I used a variety of photos from iconic male celebrities like Cab Calloway, Fred Astaire, Jay-Z, and Kanye West as well as photos from Ovadia & Sons and Public School.
I focused on the “classic gentlemen” as a theme. I realize that a lot of menswear designers are pushing the envelope but the guys I know just want to look cool and classic. I also only used photos of actual men because I’m not particularly inspired by a color or fabric but a real person wearing actual clothes. So with no further adieu, check the moodboard below. I definitely plan to create more so stay tuned!
