Press Pen: Sally LaPointe SS14 Runway Show Review by @StyleMe_Bad

Hey Pennies & Pens!

It’s Nicole, from Style Me B.A.D!

The Sally Lapointe Spring 2014 RTW runway show took place on Friday Sept. 5th at the Highline Stages during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and immediately upon entering the venue I felt a really cool, calm and almost zen like vibe. The notes on the collection stated: “Inspired by deli flowers. Evoking an enticing sadness. A beautiful and dreary simplicity.”

My overall take on the collection was that it was very edgy with complex layers and touches of femininity.  There was a great deal of leather in both black and eggshell. I love seeing leather used for spring collections.

I loved these lambskin shorts that look like a skirt which was a trend this past season that I am happy to see carry over. The eggshell white pieces were gorgeous and I loved the layered lambskin top and skirt.

The vibrant canary yellow lurex pieces added a nice pop of color to the collection. This canary yellow color has been trending for some time now and I am excited to see it again for the upcoming season.

These were some of the pieces inspired by “deli flowers” and I loved how the gorgeous printed organza dresses don’t scream flower power, which was a nice take on a very popular print. At first glance I didn’t even realize it was flower print.

The models all wore long haired wigs in different shades that came off a bit costumey in my opinion. I understood the look she was going for, but I can’t say that I really loved it. I would have preferred the models all had their own natural hair slick straight for the show, but maybe it was too difficult to find that many models with long hair?

Overall I thought the show was really beautiful and the clothes were all pieces that I would actually wear (if I could afford to). Find out more about Sally Lapointe here and view the entire spring 14 collection here.
