Designer Discussion: HELM Boots

Dear Pennies & Pens,

So this post is especially for my stylish Pens out there. I’d like to take time out today to introduce you to HELM Boots. HELM Boots was started by Joshua Bingaman in 2009. The boots and shoes are designed in Austin, TX and handcrafted in Maine. HELM sources materials in the United States and uses products from other small manufacturers like Horween Tannery in Chicago and Fairfield Textile in New Jersey.

With a background like that, it’s no surprise that HELM Boots is dedicated to celebrating American culture. HELM Boots has a retail store on East Sixth Street in Austin, where the interior is made of found, repurposed and recycled building products. At the store, they sell products like leather goods, accessories, and shoe care products from like-minded makers.

If you’re nowhere near Austin, don’t fret because you can shop online here: helmboots.com. Also Pennies, don’t worry, HELM will be launching a Women’s line in Fall of 2014.

And there it is. de la Pen…All Pen Everything.
