Press Pen: HoustonPress Artopia

Dear Pennies & Pens,

This past weekend, I attended HoustonPress’ Artopia. Some of you may remember that I also covered this event last year. If not, check out the post here: Press Pen: HoustonPress Artopia 2014.

As it states on the website, “Artopia is an evening of culture, fashion, art, music and food. Entertainment includes live music, fashion shows, dance & theatrical performances and works from local artists. ”

I enjoyed this year’s event much more than last year’s. I’m not sure if it was me or the event itself but the vibe of the event was really cool. I had a good time at the event last year but this year felt better somehow.

The venue Winter Street Studios is still a cool art and event space although the layout can be tiring and confusing. It’s just so big and during Artopia there’s art and people everywhere so it can be difficult to navigate.

But let’s get to the meat and potatoes. The art, food, and drinks at Artopia were fabulous! I loved all the art that I saw; Jim Hudek and Denise Liebl, in particular.

I also loved the food, there were local restaurants there serving all kinds of goodies. The drinks were pretty amazing too.

My favorite part was watching some of the artist paint live at the event. It was so cool to watch them create their work in person! I truly enjoyed the event and would recommend that you guys check it out.
