Pen’s Rhythm Nation: The Vamps

Dear Pennies & Pens,

About a month ago, I discovered a new British Pop-Rock band called The Vamps. I stumbled across the video for their first single “Can We Dance” via YouTube and immediately fell in love with their music! They have such a cool sound, it’s the perfect blend of pop and rock.

The Vamps include Brad Simpson (lead vocals and guitar), James McVey (lead guitar and vocals), Connor Ball (bass guitar and vocals) and Tristan Evans (drums and vocals). Since their debut in 2013, The Vamps have released two albums: Meet The Vamps (2014) and Wake Up (2015).

I adore both of these albums and I play them constantly. My favorite tracks from Meet The Vamps include “Last Night”, “Somebody to You” ft. Demi Lovato, “Risk It All”, “Wild Heart”, and “Smile” . As far as Wake Up, I love “Wake Up”, “Rest Your Love”, “Volcano”, “I Found A Girl”, and “Cheater”.

I like The Vamps because they have an original sound and they have a mixture of fun tracks as well as more thoughtful tracks. Their music makes feel good and it makes me think. I like music that I can rock out to but also reflect on. To me, that’s how all music should be. If you can’t rock and think, fuck it.

Some may write The Vamps off as just another boy band, but I think they’re more than that. I truly believe there’s something different about them. Some people just got it like that, ya know?  In essence, I would highly recommend checking them out here: The Vamps. P.S. If you dig The Vamps too, let me know in the comments, Pennies & Pens!
