Pen.Point: Colcord Hotel OKC

This post was created in collaboration with Colcord Hotel

Dear Pennies & Pens,

As you all know, I just returned to Dallas from Kansas City. I went to Kansas City to produce the KC and All That Jazz issue of de la Pen…All Pen Everything. Since Dallas is 8 hours from Kansas City, I stopped in Tulsa and Oklahoma City respectively to break up the drive. Luckily, the Colcord Hotel in OKC was lovely enough to sponsor my visit. They truly saved my life so I am thankful for them!

The Colcord Hotel is gorgeous! I had no idea that something so magnificent existed in OKC. The Colcord Hotel is the perfect mix of history and modernity. The hotelā€™s lobby features marble walls and columns as well as a nickel and bronze letterbox. Colcord was originally built in 1908 and completed in 1910.

My room was on the 8th floor and it was very spacious! I absolutely loved the decor. It was modern and chic yet comfortable. The color palette included black, white, gray, brown, peach/tangerine. The room featured a King sized bed, love seat, sitting chair, large flat screen tv, desk/chair, and bathroom. One cool thing about the bathroom was that the sink and shower/toilet are in separate areas so if you have more than one person in the room two people can get ready at the same time (time saver).

The bed was ridiculously comfortable and I seriously didnā€™t want to leave it. The flat screen tv was also lovely too. I also liked the sitting area because even though it was just me, it gave me a place to sit and chill without having to sit on my bed. I sat in the sitting area to sip my morning tea the day I left. Since I only stayed one night, I didnā€™t get to tour the entire hotel, but everything I saw was truly lovely.

Another thing I loved about Colcord was that itā€™s right next door to Vast, a rooftop restaurant/lounge. Vast is on the 49th floor and has a stunning view of OKC. One of the hotelā€™s staff members encouraged me to visit Vast and I went reluctantly but I am so glad I did!

I forgot that I was in OKC because Vastā€™s decor is so reminiscent of NYC. It is truly beautiful and affordable. I had a glass of wine that was only $8 in NYC, that wine wouldā€™ve been $15-20 easily.

I also went to The Loaded Bowl, a Vegan restaurant in OKC. The food was absolutely delicious! Not to mention extremely affordable. I went there for dinner and got ā€œThe Down Home Bowlā€, a cup of Broccocli & Cheese soup, and a glass of wine for $20!

If thatā€™s not a deal I donā€™t know what is. The Colcord Hotel has a complimentary shuttle service and since the hotel is only 10 min from The Loaded Bowl, I took the shuttle there. So that was a lovely time/money saver!

Overall, I had a wonderful time visiting The Colcord Hotel and OKC. The best part is that OKC is only 3 hours from Dallas, so I will definitely be back for a weekend getaway. Be sure to check out Colcord Hotel here: Ā www.colcordhotel.com
