Pen.Point: The Seasoned Traveler and Lone Star Court – A Retro Inspired Hotel

This post contains a Press Sample

Dear Pennies & Pens,

I’ve always loved staying at hotels. Ever since I was a little girl and my family went on vacation, I always looked forward to staying in a hotel. To me, hotels had all the amenities and benefits of home without any of the labor. At a hotel, you have housekeeping service, complimentary breakfast, cable and phone in your room, an exercise room, and a pool. And now, you even get free wi-fi. So why would one not want to stay in a hotel?

On the flip side, after staying in several hotels, they can start to blend together. Lately, I’ve been looking for hotels that offer value as well as unique style and design. That’s why I was so excited to discover Lone Star Court. Lone Star Court is a new upscale, retro-inspired, motor court concept hotel hotel in Austin, TX. The hotel opened just before Christmas 2013.

I’m featuring Lone Star Court in my Pen.Point: The Seasoned Traveler series. Pen.Point: The Seasoned Traveler is a travel series that features unique travel and hospitality brands. The purpose of Pen.Point: The Seasoned Traveler is to showcase travel and hospitality brands that can enhance the lives of “Pennies & Pens” aka readers of de la Pen…All Pen Everything.

Lone Star Court is an authentic Americana roadside hotel by the Valencia Group, recognized nationally and internationally for its service and style, Lone Star Court has an aesthetic that’s authentically Austin and Texas Hill Country from the furniture in the rooms to the unique outdoor environment. Lone Star Court has 123 retro-inspired guest rooms with high-tech amenities.

True to Austin, the hotel will feature live music by an outdoor fire pit, a dipping pool reminiscent of Hill Country swimming holes, and an onsite food trailer court featuring its own signature food truck, the Feed Store, and other local favorite trailers on a rotating basis. Lone Star Court’s full service restaurant, The Water Trough, will have a Texas-centric menu and a full bar featuring signature cocktail “The Chill Cowboy.”

Lone Star Court was created by Valencia Group, a Houston-based company known for its luxury independent Hotel Valencias in San Antonio and San Jose, and Hotel Sorella CITYCENTRE in Houston and Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. The architect for Lone Star Court is RTKL Associates of Dallas, led by Jim Suggs. The designer for Lone Star Court is Lauren Rottet of Houston-based Rottet Studio, and the landscape architect is Christine Ten Eyck of Austin-based Ten Eyck Landscape Architects.

The Lone Star Court is dedicated to taking visitors back to the heyday of the roadside motor court experience. At Lone Star Court, guests can discover an era of authentic Americana along with modern amenities and the excitement of Austin. I have scheduled an upcoming media visit to Lone Star Court in April. I am excited to be working with such an amazing hotel. I truly believe that it will be a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
