Press Pen: Christian Siriano SS 2012 Show Review

Dear Pennies & Pens,

First off, sorry for the delay in writing! Things have been hectic but I’ll discuss that in another post. Moving right along, during NYFW, I got a chance to attend Christian Siriano’s show for the first time. I must admit I was super excited to be attending as I’ve been trying to get into this show for the past two seasons.

And thank goodness, Christian did not disappoint. Currently, Christian’s credibility is being questioned being that he was discovered on Project Runway. I’m no reality TV fan and I’ve watched no more than 5 episodes of the show, but, Christian is definitely talented. Anyone who denies him that is just being difficult for no reason.

In his Spring/Summer 2012 collection, Christian used beautiful, bright colors and the collection was a mixture of wearable day and eveningwear. My favorite pieces were the Chartreuse (yellowish-green) designs, a beige maxi dress, and a citrus evening gown that past de la Pen Model Mondays feature Georgie Badiel wore.

Additionally, the show featured the shoes that Christian designed in collaboration with Payless. I think it’s refreshing to see a young designer being discovered (whether it be reality tv or not) and then receiving press from top publications & blogs as well as collaborating with a major brand to give stylish designs to the divas on a budget. In essence, I say right on Christian! You have a support here at de la Pen!

And there it is. The Fashion & Style of the Pen…de la Pen.
