Riding LOUD in KC with the 2017 Acura MDX

Dear Pennies & Pens,

It seems like only yesterday, I was cruising in the 2017 Acura MDX on my way to Kansas City. As you all hopefully know, I drove from Dallas to KC to produce the KC and All That Jazz issue of de la Pen…All Pen Everything. Acura provided the MDX for my trip and I am so thankful to them for believing in this project.

The MDX is truly an amazing car! I absolutely adored every minute I got to spend driving this car. And honestly, I’m not a big fan of long distance driving. Prior to this trip, I had only driven 3.5 hours by myself. So I was definitely nervous about making this journey. Now I’m sort of obsessed with long distance driving, it’s fun & relaxing! I think it was the MDX that alleviated all my fears.

With features like a push button ignition, brake hold, heated seats, and a killer sound system this car is definitely dope! During my trip, I encountered every type of weather one could experience. It rained and snowed; there were also cloudy and sunny days. The drive includes Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri hence the reason for the difference in temperature.

I loved the MDX because it was truly a smooth ride. Plus the car is extremely spacious! The MDX can definitely fit the lifestyle of a busy entrepreneur like myself or a person with a family. The style and design of the car is beautiful too. The MDX I drove had gray and black leather interior, and the exterior was a charcoal gray.

I liked the push button ignition because it meant I didn’t have to fool with keys to start the car. Since I drive a 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse on the regular this made me feel super fancy. I also liked the brake hold because it allows you to take your foot off the brake in traffic or at a stoplight. You do have to press the brake hold button to turn this feature on but once you do, the feature stays on while driving the car.

The heated seats were also a lifesaver because it was snowing when I left KC. Since I haven’t even seen let alone experienced snow in almost 4 years, I was totally freaked out. But luckily, the heated seats kept my toushie warm so I could focus on driving. Oh and that sound system honey, it was just what I needed to stay awake during that long drive! The MDX sound system is truly ill. As y’all know, I dig Hip-hop/R&B, so I love a car that knows how to make the beat drop!

Other features I loved were the USB charging ports (my phone stayed charged which was dope), the surround view camera system, and Auto Beam headlights.

Overall, I truly enjoyed my experience with the Acura MDX. I seriously want to buy one, Pennies & Pens! So if y’all see ya girl riding around Dallas in one, don’t be surprised!
