Press Pen: Happy New Year & Fresh Inkings for de la Pen!

Me (Pen) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Dear Pennies,

Happy New Year! Today, I just wanted to write a quick post to tell you Happy New Year and announce that I’m back from my long blog break and I’m ready to kick off the New Year with fresh inkings for de la Pen! This year, I plan to update old posts, be more consistent about publishing articles on time on their scheduled dates, feature more interviews, gain more Pennies (readers of de la Pen), and simply continue to be my old Loud self so that 2011 can be even better & louder than 2010. In essence, I have a lot of big plans for the blog, so hang with me as I kick off the new year.

Additionally, I also wanted to announce a couple things I have accomplished and have been working on. I was just accepted into FIT (The Fashion Institute of Technology) so I’ll be pursuing an AAS in Advertising & Marketing Communications. Last year, I told you that I’m starting a new business called, The Network which consists of my digital creative production company, Pen Productions and my business partner, Shirley Lopez’s side of the company, Cacha Management which handles models, actors, artists, and musicians. The Network also has F.A.M. (Fashion.Art.Music) Magazine which will be debuting in March of this year. Basically, I’m also co-editing, styling, and compiling F.A.M. Magazine along with Shirley.

As far as de la Pen, I’ll be attending a fashion show for 66North on Wednesday evening. 66North is an Icelandic brand that is debuting their Fall/Winter 2011 collection. Please be on the lookout for that post on Thursday and that will be this week’s “Designer Discussion” post. I also want to publish more of the “Tuesday’s Thoughts” articles which are to discuss style icons and style trends from around the world. I plan to also publish more of the “1000 Words” posts (a post for images only) and “Fashion For Music; Music for Fashion” posts that feature the personal style of music icons and how their music and fashion influence one another.

And lest we not forget, Fashion Week and fashion event reviews. Press Pen was by far the most popular section of de la Pen and I promise to keep this section coming. For those who don’t know, Press Pen is the section of de la Pen where I (Pen) attend fashion shows and events and give a detailed personal account, pictures, and review. Last year, I covered everything from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York S/S 2011, to Style.uz Art Week in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to the Chocolate Fashion Show in New York, to the Japan Now Fashion Symposium at FIT, and the Women: Inspiration & Enterprise (Wie) Symposium which featured Donna Karan, Tamara Mellon, and Christy Turlington.

Overall, for the beginning of this year, I really want to focus on content. After all, content is king and I believe that’s what’s kept this blog going and I know it’s what keeps my most loyal Pennies coming back for more. In time the numbers will be out the wazoo but for now I just want to give you the best international and multicultural fashion, style, beauty, and music. Stay tuned for more of the freshest, deafest, inkings for de la Pen.

And there it is. The Fashion and Style of the Pen…de la Pen.
