Press Pen: EMU Australia Fall/Winter 2011 Show Review

Dear Pennies,

It’s Pen here to report on the EMU Australia Fall/Winter 2011 collection. EMU is an Australian owned and operated footwear and fashion brand. EMU Australia is known for its footwear being that it was the first brand to introduce premium water resistant sheepskin boots. This past New York Fashion Week, EMU showed a womenswear collection.

The collection consisted of earthy tones like olive, hazelnut, and mushroom. The fabrics were sheepskin and wool since EMU is known for using cutting edge technology to produce designs using these fabrics. Another innovative piece of the collection was the world’s first Denimwool jean.

Overall, the collection was very nice. I think the pieces are very wearable and everything looked super comfortable. However, I am concerned that people are growing tired of the Ugg boot trend and since EMU is known for its sheepskin boots, I hope the brand doesn’t get pigeonholed. What do you think of the EMU collection, Pennies? Are you tired of sheepskin/Ugg boots? Or do you think that since EMU is also producing clothing, they can expand? Sound off in the comments!
