When outsiders come to Hollywood, they expect the glitz and glamā€”and itā€™s thereā€”but thereā€™s a folksy community under the surface too.

This other side of Hollywood can be seen at the new weekly Vintage Market (basically a farmerā€™s market), which launched July 23 and continues every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hollywood High School.

Whether youā€™re visiting Los Angeles or live hereā€”swing by for a taste of Parisian-inspired market finds. David Pilcer, who founded the event, which is being called Open Market Place, first started working in French markets overseas selling perfumes when he was 18.

ā€œWe want to create a real quality event with Open Market Place, one where you can discover one-of-a-kind merchandise. Our vendor selection process is tough.Ā  We want only the best,ā€ Pilcer said in a statement before the market debuted.

Pilcer said that he loved the energy and atmosphere of outdoor markets in France and wanted to reproduce that Parisian atmosphere in Los Angeles with a high-end market for handmade goods, delicious food, live music, great people and an overall exciting and bustling destination.
