L.A. Confidential: New Vintage Market in Hollywood

Dear Pennies and Pens,

When outsiders come to Hollywood, they expect the glitz and glam—and it’s there—but there’s a folksy community under the surface too.

This other side of Hollywood can be seen at the new weekly Vintage Market (basically a farmer’s market), which launched July 23 and continues every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hollywood High School.

Whether you’re visiting Los Angeles or live here—swing by for a taste of Parisian-inspired market finds. David Pilcer, who founded the event, which is being called Open Market Place, first started working in French markets overseas selling perfumes when he was 18.

“We want to create a real quality event with Open Market Place, one where you can discover one-of-a-kind merchandise. Our vendor selection process is tough.  We want only the best,” Pilcer said in a statement before the market debuted.

Pilcer said that he loved the energy and atmosphere of outdoor markets in France and wanted to reproduce that Parisian atmosphere in Los Angeles with a high-end market for handmade goods, delicious food, live music, great people and an overall exciting and bustling destination.
