Press Pen: Alessia Prekop Fall/Winter 2013 Show Review

Dear Pennies & Pens,

During New York Fashion Week, I saw London based designer, Alessia Prekop’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection. This collection was outstanding! I really loved the pops of color, which were red, pink, and purple. The collection was very chic and I can tell it was designed for a real woman.

Drawing inspiration from a childhood spent in Italy, and an adulthood spent in London, Alessia combined the ideas of lively Italian cities and melancholy London streets by creating modern, daring shapes, balanced by the strategic use of color-blocking in vibrant hues. The structural elements, like the three-dimensional peplum waists, are also indicative of her love for London and Italy, providing a subtle nod to the architectural details present in both countries.

As far as my favorite pieces, I am absolutely obsessed with a red and black color blocked jacket from the show! This coat is so bad that if you wear it outside, Michael Jackson’s “BAD” will play everywhere you go. No, seriously, this will occur. LOL. The next piece I liked was a peplum dress that featured a red line down the middle. There is something about that red line that presents another level of fierce. There was also a cool purple dress with a zig zag detail and another purple coat that was similar to the red one I just described.

Overall the collection was on point. There were some pieces I would’ve edited out like red and black leather outfit, the brown leather top and pants, and then this other black skirt that was just odd. But all in all, it was a stellar collection. Feel free to check outĀ Style CartelĀ for an interview with Alessia andĀ Washington Square NewsĀ for a review on the collection.

And there it is. de la Pen…All Pen Everything.Ā
