Pen’s Eye: Rhythm and Rhapsody

Dear Pennies & Pens,

Last night, I had the pleasure of attending Rhythm and Rhapsody presented by Verb Kulture at the AT&T Performing Arts Center. As yall know from my previous posts, I have covered performances and shows at the AT&T Performing Arts Center many times over the past few years.

Rhythm and Rhapsody is a part of the Elevator Project which is a special project created by the AT&T Performing Arts Center to give emerging artists in Dallas a place to showcase their work. It’s about keeping local artists working in Dallas so they don’t move to other cities. I think this is beautiful because Dallas is such a lovely place to live and create.

To tell you more about Rhythm and Rhapsody, I’ll just quote the description from the AT&T Performing Arts Center website: “Rhythm and Rhapsody is an artistic fusion of live music, storytelling and poetic expression that brings poetry, rhythm, and dance together to share stories that reflect social challenges in the African American community.”

In the vlog below, I share clips from Rhythm and Rhapsody so you’ll see the actors, dancers, singers, musicians and spoken word. This vlog really captures the essence of the show and I’m so happy with how it turned out. Now note, the vlog does start with me in my bathrobe getting ready haha I just think vlogs are more fun when you tell a story from beginning to end.

I truly enjoyed Rhythm and Rhapsody! This show was truly inspiring and thought provoking. I am so happy I went, it was worth leaving the house. Absolutely a phenomenal show that everyone must see. Please let me know what you think in the comments below.  To learn more and purchase tickets, check out Rhythm and Rhapsody on AT&T Performing Arts Center Website.
