Why I created Pennies & Pens
I created and launched Pennies & Pens in November of 2020 because I was looking for something comfortable and cute to wear. I wanted something that expresses my unique style and individuality as well as a brand that would appeal to consumers.
Furthermore, I wanted to create a product that fits a variety of different body types and ethnicities. Hence why Pennies & Pens is a collection of 100% organic cotton T-Shirts. Organic cotton is absolutely the best type of material I could have chosen.
Organic cotton softens naturally over time with each wear and wash. It’s also free from any harmful chemicals. In essence, Pennies & Pens T-Shirts get better with time.

Behind the Ink: Designing Pennies & Pens Summer 2023 Collection
Pennies & Pens Summer 2023 Collection is inspired by K-Pop music. As y’all know, I have become an avid K-Pop fan. Therefore, I wanted to create a collection themed around K-Pop. It was so much fun designing this collection and I can’t wait to release it!
Pennies & Pens Summer 2023 will officially be released on June 19, 2023 aka Juneteenth. I wanted to release the collection on Juneteenth because as a Black and woman owned business, I thought this was the perfect release date.
Juneteenth signifies the freedom of Black Americans from enslavement. And now that it’s a national holiday, I believe it should get the recognition it deserves. In the vlog below, you get to see exclusive behind the scenes clips of me designing the Pennies & Pens Summer 2023 collection.
