LOUD.Life: I hate Valentine’s Day but I love Events

Dear Pennies & Pens,

First off, this month has been insane for me! I have been going to a bunch of different events to network, promote The InkSpot and 8515 as well as observe the event so that I can write about it here on de la Pen…All Pen Everything. That said, today, I wanted to give you a recap of all the events I’ve been attending.

Since I love sarcasm, I decided to title this post LOUD.Life: I hate Valentine’s Day but I love Events because it’s true. I truly believe that Valentine’s Day is dumb and I’m more irritated by the fact that I’m single everyday let alone Valentine’s Day. Since, I’m all about keeping it positive, I’m going to talk about the events I attended during Valentine’s weekend instead of bashing the day.

First up, Dallas Comic Con. For those that don’t know, Dallas Comic Con Fan Days is a pop culture convention for fans of comics, sci-fi, horror, anime, and gaming. The spring edition is packed with exciting family-friendly activities and celebrities.

The spring event was held Valentine’s Day Weekend and I went on Saturday, February 13th. While there, I swooned over the Archie Comics I spotted for 50% off and I marveled over the fact that everyone was dressed in costume.

In fact, I looked like an oddball not being dressed up. I wanted to don a catwoman costume but since I had other events to attend that day, I couldn’t. Either way, the event was awesome, learn more here: www.dallascomiccon.com

Next up, we have The Chinese New Year Festival hosted by the Crow Collection of Asian Art. This festival celebrates the Chinese New Year. It’s a free, family friendly event that includes must-see performances every hour, traditional Chinese New Year art making activities, calligraphy demonstrations, face painting, fortune telling, and much more.

While there, I checked out the traditional Chinese fashion show, a music performance, and I stopped by a few of the vendor booths. It was a dope event and I would definitely recommend! Learn more here: Chinese New Year Festival

My last and final event of the day was the 30th Anniversary Celebration at Barry Whistler Gallery. During this event, I browsed the art that was on display, mingled with fellow attendees, and sipped wine.

It was a pretty fabulous way to end the day. I definitely enjoyed the event and would recommend checking out this gallery, especially if you’re into Abstract art. Keep with the gallery here: www.barrywhistler.com
