In this post, Pen’s Eye: DBDT Encore! Rising Excellence, I will be sharing my thoughts and writing a review of the show.
First, I would like to thank DBDT: Encore! for collaborating with me to create this review. Secondly, I would like to congratulate all of the artistic directors, choreographers, dancers and all who were involved with this show – it was phenomenal!
DBDT: Encore! Rising Excellence
As it states in the press release, “DBDT: Encore! Rising Excellence performance draws on the heritage and memories of Japanese, Polish, and African American choreographers. Takehiro Ueyama shares his Japanese heritage through his work Heroes, which combines powerful athleticism and delicate gestures.
Snow Playground is an abstract work by Katarzyna Skarpetowska who grew up in Warsaw, Poland. The work takes its inspiration from a peaceful image of swirling snow in a gentle wind as it moves across the surface of a children’s playground.
When Tyrone C. Walker choreographed Prototype, he had robots in mind to demonstrate the internal struggle of breaking loose from factory-made minds while searching for self-discovery to find your true self.”
My Thoughts on DBDT: Encore! Rising Excellence
DBDT: Encore! Rising Excellence was absolutely beautiful. I truly enjoyed the performances. It was so inspiring and artistic. The performances offered a lovely escape from reality and into the creative realm.
I am so blessed to have witnessed these extraordinary ballets. I have nothing but the utmost respect for DBDT: Encore! Rising Excellence and I would highly recommend seeing one of their performances.
